ROMA!

WE ARE IN ROMA THE ETERNAL CITY!

Great flight over.

Andrea sleeping on AA 110
We landed around 9:15 am Rome time (2:15 am ET), proceeded through passport control, baggage claim, Rome Pass pickup, and the hotel shuttle dropped us off so that by 11:00 am, we entered our deluxe suite. (Will pressed for an upgrade, and lo and behold, we have a huge suite with two bathrooms, living room and huge balcony.)

Our birthday girl on the balcony

We then took the shuttle bus down to Piazza dei Tribunali and began walking toward Piazza Novano. We stopped for a lunch of pizza margherita and salad. Afterwards, we just walked. We stopped at Campo di Fiori, a marketplace surrounded by cafes.

We walked around the Storico Centro. Everywhere you look is a photo. Disney cannot recreate this. We did a quick walk through the Jewish ghetto and stopped for a pear gelato, which even had the texture of pear!

Jewish museum (to be visited later)
We then headed down to the Farnese Gallery for a special showing at what is now the French Embassy.

The Farnese family built this beautiful palazzo on the Via Giulia. The Carracci ceiling was most awesome!

We continued to walk, and then headed back to our shuttle. Back here at the hotel for some room service and an early night to bed before a big day of full on sightseeing tomorrow.
Of course, there are more details, but I am in the Executive Lounge using a desktop computer (thus photos!)with an Italian keyboard, Buona Sera and Ciao!!
